Welcome to the sixth edition of xxTAKES, the official newsletter of xxTALK!
Today, we wanted to reflect on our first edition of talkshop, the workshop we designed with our extended team of xxTALK sex and relationship therapists to get women back in touch with their bodies.
This month has been a profound learning and sharing experience for our whole team, and we hope it has been for all the talkshop participants as well. We have been surprised by the level of candor, connection, acceptance and warmth you have expressed with each other and yourselves. The positive feedback from participants has truly reinforced our commitment to the xxTALK mission, and we are in the process of defining the next steps for the program and the community. We are positively surprised by the level of referrals we are receiving for the next edition of talkshop and we will continue to be in touch with you about how we are progressing our service going forward and when the next batch will start.
Here are some reflections from our participants:
I’ve realized I had immense curiosity to explore myself sexually and I haven’t given myself the opportunity to do that. We never really talked about it growing up, and my culture’s attitude to sex made me fearful of bringing it up. I want to now lean into this curiosity - both exploring it by myself and with a partner. I want to figure out what I really like and practice communication.
This space is something that I never really had, and it was very good to know that I am not alone. I feel like I have taken control of so many different parts of my life, like my career, but I haven’t been as intentional about my sexuality. Self-pleasure is a form of medication. I’ll do more research to understand what sexual pleasure is to me and what my sexuality is.
When we were sharing this together as a group, the questions that others said made me think about myself super differently. I will share things more openly and ask people what they’ve been doing. This exchange of information is very powerful and I really liked it.
As outlined initially, we are donating all our proceeds to women’s shelters, specifically Women’s Lunch Place in Boston and La Casa de Las Madres in San Francisco. These organizations are leaders in their communities for supporting vulnerable women.
And as always, we welcome any comments and feedback you may have on the program, content or anything in between. Shoot us an e-mail at hi@xxtalk.co, we are always looking to learn and improve from our incredible community!
With Love,
The xxTALK team
